About Editable Imperialism Maps
Our editable imperialism maps let you create your own scenarios. Create custom teams, place them on the map, and watch as they battle for territorial control through simulated matchups.
How It Works
Each round, teams with adjacent enemy territories are paired for matchups. Winners claim the contested territory and expand their empire. The simulation continues until one team controls the entire map — or until you decide to stop and reset.
Three Ways to Play
- You pick the winners — You decide who wins each matchup. Perfect for playing alongside any other sports video game. Play the game, then click the winner.
- Spin to decide — An animated spinner wheel randomly picks the winner of each matchup. Watch the wheel spin and see which team fate favors.
- Instant — All matchups resolve at once with random results. The fastest way to run a full simulation.
Great For
- Video game companions — Track your sports video game on a territory map as you play.
- Friend group challenges — Each person picks a team and you simulate rounds to see who conquers the map first.
- What-if scenarios — Start from a historical season and see what happens when different teams win.
- Custom leagues — Create teams from scratch with custom names and colors for any scenario you can imagine.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an editable imperialism map?
An editable imperialism map lets you create custom teams, place them on a map, and simulate territory battles. Teams attack adjacent territories each round, and the winner claims the contested land. Play continues until one team conquers everything.
How does the simulation work?
Each round, teams with adjacent enemy territories are paired for matchups. You can resolve results with an animated spinner wheel (random), enter your own results manually, or use instant mode to resolve all matchups at once.
Can I use this with sports video games?
Yes! Select "User Input" as the result resolution mode and you can manually enter the winner of each matchup. Play the game in your favorite sports video game, then input the results to update the map.
Is the editable imperialism map free?
Yes, the editable imperialism map is completely free to use with no sign-up required. You can create as many simulations as you want.
What simulation settings are available?
You can customize matchup generation (border attack, random pairings, or spin-the-arrow), winner spoils (take one territory or take all), elimination rules (eliminated or loser stays in), and result resolution (spinner wheel, user input, or instant).
New: pick matchups by direction with the arrow spinner.
